Priorities for transport in the North of England: economic growth, regional regeneration and the Strategic Transport Plan
From: 04 Dec, 2018 until: 04 Dec, 2018
Location: Central Manchester, United Kingdom
THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED
This seminar will examine priorities for delivering new and improved transport infrastructure across the North of England.
It will be an opportunity to discuss key measures from Transport for the North’s Strategic Transport Plan - with a final strategy due to be published this year - as well further opportunities for delivering the sustainable and innovative infrastructure system needed to underpin regional development and economic growth.
Attendees will also discuss further priorities for investment in northern transport - looking at the Government’s £300 million investment aimed at ensuring HS2 is compatible with the future Northern Powerhouse Rail services, and Network Rail’s multi-billion pound Great North Rail Project - set to be completed by 2022.
Further sessions focus on plans for future improvements to Trans-Pennine road routes; opportunities for improving international connections; the role of Metro Mayors in developing city links; and the challenges for expanding both freight and passenger services.
