Maritime Transport Efficiency Conference (MTEC)
From: 18 May, 2020 until: 19 May, 2020
Location: Geneva, Switzerland
The aim of the conference is to bring the main actors of the shipping industry together, give visibility to the research they undertake, and connect them with the main players in maritime transport on a global scale.
Address: Hotel President Wilson
Over 90 percent of world trade is carried across the world’s oceans by some 90,000 marine vessels. Like all modes of transportation that use fossil fuels, ships produce carbon dioxide emissions that significantly contribute to global climate change and acidification. Besides carbon dioxide ships also release a handful of other pollutants that contribute to the problem.
The shipping industry is responsible for a significant proportion of the global climate change problem. More than three percent of global carbon dioxide emissions can be attributed to ocean-going ships. This is an amount comparable to major carbon-emitting countries -- and the industry continues to grow rapidly.
The purpose of the Maritime Transport Efficiency Conference is to highlight solutions, present innovations, and to bring together the main actors involved in an approach to improve the efficiency of maritime transport.
There are countless possibilities to explore: fuels, propulsion systems, hyrodynamics, antifouling paint construction techniques,…
Many actors, often isolated, are working on solutions to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of maritime transport.
Our objective is to bring them together, give visibility to the research they undertake, and connect them with the main players in maritime transport on a global scale.
