19 April 2015

More than 40 professional and social events are already scheduled for this year’s Danish Maritime Days to take place on 5-9 October in Copenhagen and across Denmark.

More than 40 professional and social events are already scheduled for this year’s Danish Maritime Days to take place on 5-9 October in Copenhagen and across Denmark.

The events on the agenda will cover such diverse topics as opportunities for maritime growth, the future workforce, technology and innovation, transportation infrastructure, sustainable growth, maritime security and many more.

“Danish Maritime Days creates an opportunity for the global maritime industry to get together on a global platform and find solutions that will benefit all and hopefully create a basis for further collaboration in the years to come,” says Michael Soested, Head of Secretariat of Danish Maritime Days.

In 2015 Danish Maritime Days is structured around a number of themes. This will give the many global stakeholders an opportunity to participate in multiple events throughout the entire week which will cover their specific field of interest.

“There will be something of everybody’s interest and we encourage global stakeholders from all sectors of the maritime industry to join us in October for five days of global collaboration, knowledge sharing and networking in Copenhagen and across Denmark,” Soested continues.

A Born Global Platform
Danish Maritime Days will address some of the most important challenges and opportunities that the global maritime industry is facing.  It is at the same time an open platform and major maritime organizations are planning meetings during the week to take advantage of the platform and the opportunity to bring together their key constituents.

“Danish Maritime Days is an opportunity to pave the way for new partnerships. And as a true born global platform we invite all stakeholders in the industry from around the world to host relevant events and thereby take advantage of the synergies that arise from the participation in a shared platform of independent, international, maritime events”, Soested concludes.

During Danish Maritime Days 2014 more than 50 events were attended by around 10,000 maritime stakeholders.

Danish Maritime Forum – Unleashing the potential of the global maritime industry
The flagship event during Danish Maritime Days is the high profile by invitation only Danish Maritime Forum. It will bring together key industry leaders with policymakers, experts and other influential decision-makers and opinion shapers. Together, they will work collaboratively in an informal and innovative setting to achieve a common goal: to unleash the full potential of the global maritime industry to increase human wellbeing.

“The Danish Maritime Forum is a unique opportunity for the maritime world to discuss how to strengthen the role and positive impact of the maritime industry on global growth and development. The Forum will further pursue the fundamental challenges discussed last year, in particular what it will take to meet the estimated doubling of cargo volumes by 2030,” says Flemming R. Jacobs, Secretary General.

At the Danish Maritime Days website the calendar of events is continuously updated with new events.

Danish Maritime Days is a public-private partnership between Danish Maritime the Danish Maritime Authorities and the Danish Shipowners’ Association. It is supported by the Danish Maritime Fund, the Ministry of Business and Growth, the Lauritzen Foundation, D/S Orients Fond // D/S NORDEN, the Hempel Foundation and the Torm Foundation.
