Dispute resolution
02 July 2013
Politicans attending the ASEAN regional forum hope to hammer out a Code of Conduct that will resolve the ongoing territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
Participants at the meeting, taking place this week in Brunei, include foreign ministers from the ASEAN states and the US Secretary of State John Kerry.
The US Navy has been increasingly active in the area. It has, for example, participated in joint surveillance operations with the Philippines - although the US government has said that it is not taking sides in the various South China Sea territorial disputes.
