Navigating into the future?

04 July 2013

Dr Alwyn Williams of the General Lighthouse Authorities will look at how the ACCSEAS project and other developments will influence the future of North Sea navigation at a free-to-attend lecture aboard HQS Wellington in October.

Dr Williams, who is also the project manager of ACCSEAS, will consider how European maritime community can cope with the twin challenges of increasing freight traffic and tighter emissions targets.

The lecture, organized by the  the Royal Institute of Navigation, will be held at 1730 for 1815 onboard HQS Wellington, which is berthed at Victoria Embankment, opposite Temple tube.

The ACCSEAS project - the acronym stands for Accessibility for Shipping, Efficiency Advantages and Sustainability -  aims to support improved maritime access to the North Sea Region and is working to identify key areas of shipping congestion and limitation of access to ports,l so it can then define solutions.
