Leading maritime organizations lend their support to the Seafarers Awareness Week (24-30 June).
Coordinated by Seafarers UK, the event aims to show how dependent the UK is on the work of its maritime workers - and to highlight the risks that seafarers often have to face in performing their vital roles.
In 2012 Seafarers UK gave grants of £2.5 million to 67 charities that help seafarers, their families and dependants, across the Merchant Navy, Fishing Fleets, Royal Navy and Royal Marines.The organizers hope to repeat, or better, this achievement in 2013.
