The European Association of Airport and Seaport Police (EAASP), which has been holding its annual general meeting in Gibraltar this week (23-24 April), announces that Eddie Yome, the Royal Gibraltar Police Commissioner, has been elected as its new president.
Yome will succeed Assistant Chief Constable John Donlon, the former Coordinator of Ports Policing in the United Kingdom, has been the association's president for the past five years.
Yome commented: 'Having been Vice-president Aviation I am well aware of the challenges ahead and the path that the association wants and needs to follow. I am confident that we can continue to grow and provide our expertise to the European policy makers.
'This is a key role in an important European organisation which influences and advises the European Commission on security in maritime and aviation issues.'
Yome will work with two vice-presidents - one will handle the aviation portfolio, and the other maritime. Yome's term as president will run for three years.
